|
Who does it affect?
All vehicles entering

|
How do I pay?
You can pay by telephone, text message, post, internet or in person at
designated retail outlets.
You must pay the charge by 10pm
of
the day you enter the zone. After 10pm the charge increases to £10.
Failure to pay by the end of the day will result in you being issued
with a Fixed
Penalty Notice (FPN) for
£100.
|
How does it work?
The scheme is policed by cameras situated on every
road that enters the Congestion Charge zone.
There are also a number of mobile camera
units. This network of cameras reads vehicle
number plates and matches them up to payments
made. At the end of the day, f the computer
cannot match a vehicle that has entered with a
payment a Fixed Penalty Noticed (FPN) is
automatically issued.
The Congestion Charge has been introduced to try to
reduce the amount of traffic within central London
- all money raised from congestion charging
will be spent on London’s transport facilities.
