  Stonewall FC

Stonewall Football Club was the UK's first gay men's football.

The club was born in March 1991 when a gay
gay amateur footballer living in London put an advert in a gay publication asking for like-minded people to contact him

Stonewall FC play against straight opposition in the Middlesex County Football League (Premier and Junior Reserve Division), they also have regular training nights, 5-a-side nights and social evenings.

Stonewall FC are the current British, European, World and Gay Olympic Champions

The club hold regular training sessions and weekly 5-a-side in London. The 5-a-side sessions are currently being held at a school in Islington, near the club's main base at Central Station. This facility is mainly used by those players who just want to kick a ball around but it can still get fast and frantic. It is here we tend to bring in new players to the club and the nights, which hold up to 30 players, are held in a friendly spirit.

Stinewall FC squad

Stonewall FC has 2 competitive teams playing at different levels and 1 recreational 3rd team.

1st Team - The London Lions

In the season 2001-2002 the first team won the West Middlesex County League Senior Division.  They  now continue in the Middlesex County League, playing fixtures every Saturday.

The First team won gold at the Gay Games in Sydney & Chicago.

2nd Team - The London Apprentices

The Reserve team won their first league title in 2002-2003, they second team took Silver at the Gay Games in Sydney.

Stonewall 3rds

Created in 2006 the Sunday 3rd team that plays in the London Unity League against other gay/bi clubs in London. The emphasis for the 3rd team is for players at all levels to get together and play with a less competitive feel about the match preparation, etc.

This being said all the teams still get quite competitive during the match, but with drinks and food after the games, there is a time to socialise with other gay/bi football clubs.
