Biography...
Will shot to
fame in 2002 when he became the winner of ITV's Pop Idol
contest. The former politics student beat the
other Popstar hopefuls after receiving 4.6 million votes!!
His first single Anything is Possible/Evergreen shot
straight to number one and became the fastest selling debut
single ever, selling over
1.1million copies in a week. He
has continued this success with his first album, From Now
On, going triple platinum while his second album, Friday's
Child is currently five times platinum.
He has won two Brit Awards, sung with James Brown and Burt
Bacharach, performed for the Queen at Buckingham Palace, and
was heralded 'The President Of Pop' by UK broadsheet
newspaper, The Independent.
After releasing a third
album, Keep On, Wills growth musically is clearly a source
of considerable pleasure. 'If I was in this to be famous, I
would feel like, 'oh great! I got on the cover of Heat!' And
that defines success to some people. Success for me was
becoming a professional singer. I'm always saying 'this is
wonderful, I can't believe this is my day job!''
In March 2002 Will announced that he was gay by saying
"It's time to tell my fans I'm gay. It's totally
no big deal, just part of who I am. For me it's normal and
nothing to be ashamed about... I always try to be honest and
true to myself."
